As the world re-opens and we return to a normal pace of life, we must ask ourselves, what does “normal” mean? Living in a modern world, we have learned to optimize our time and be efficient. But sometimes this way of living comes at a tremendous cost: a loss of balance and inner peace.
This pandemic brought many changes, including a halt in time. Many people who are returning to work feel they do not want to go back to the old ways. Meeting deadlines and working at a fast pace to secure a living do not seem to make sense anymore. We also now realize that nothing is permanent. In fact, change is the norm.
In today’s world, we are not only confronted with a fatal virus, but other challenges are also lurking. Climate change, political turmoil, and racial issues add to the already gloomy landscape. As the future becomes more and more unpredictable, we long to find a way to experience a stable and thriving life.
By putting yourself first each day, you honor yourself as a human being. Learn to say no when situations do not seem to be aligned with your intuition. If you suffer from anxiety, know that your subconscious mind may be telling you that something is not right.
You are not selfish when you put yourself first. So long as you are not harming anyone or making decisions that could be detrimental to another person, you are doing what is best for you.
In fact, you are learning to establish healthy boundaries. You take the time to care for yourself so you can serve others better. This is a major factor in our abilities, and unfortunately it is often overlooked by mothers and caregivers.
One of my patients recently had the courage to say “no” at her workplace. One day, soon after, she realized she was working better. To her surprise, she was even more appreciated by her coworkers.
Each situation is unique. Sometimes, we may not enjoy the freedom to follow our inner guidance. But if we can be aware of it, it still matters in the end. We can also prioritize or delegate whenever possible.
Being conscious and making decisions with discernment counts. It adds to the sense of normality, because there is respect and awareness in it.
Know that you are valuable. This world needs stable, strong, and healthy people. With all these challenges upon us, solutions will have to come from the human side, by partnering with a benevolent Universe. Returning to Source and asking for guidance are needed more than ever. This process takes time.
When you make the right decision, a sense of well-being and peacefulness will emanate, even if the planet becomes chaotic. This is the natural state of those who do not lose themselves in the impermanence of the material world. So, put yourself first, and shine your light onto this Earth. You are needed in these challenging times!
